Sonnenschein - A Living Firing Tradition from Witten-Herbede

Since 1875, the Sonnenschein name has stood for a living distilling tradition from Witten-Herbede. For generations, the private distillery was closely connected to the region and shaped a piece of local indulgence culture with its specialties.

With this brand, Krugmann shares much more than its later continuation: Mr. Mönks was part of our company for many years before he took over the Sonnenschein distillery. This long-standing connection still makes the history of Sonnenschein special to us today.

At the heart of it is the Herbeder Tropfen – the distillery's most famous specialty and a herbal liqueur with an unmistakable character, regional roots, and great tradition. Since 2025, we at Krugmann have been carefully continuing the recipe and brand rights.

In this way, with Herbeder Tropfen, we preserve not only a well-known product but also a piece of regional identity and a long-standing distilling culture.
