Krugmann Branded Spirits
Innovation from tradition – since 1867
For over 150 years, Krugmann has stood for high-quality spirits with character. The company was founded in 1867 by Peter Friedrich Krugmann in Meinerzhagen, Sauerland. From a small grain distillery, a modern brand company has developed over generations, combining traditional craftsmanship with a spirit of innovation.
The friendly farmer in the blue smock remains the brand's unmistakable emblem to this day. He stands for authenticity, reliability, and consistently high quality. Over six generations, Krugmann has remained true to its homeland. Even today, the products are manufactured at the original founding site.
Today, the product range includes classic spirits for connoisseurs as well as innovative products for new consumption occasions. Krugmann products are available in food retail, beverage wholesalers, gastronomy, and international markets.
The claim remains unchanged: to develop high-quality spirits that impress with quality, character, and contemporary brand management.

Preserving tradition – shaping the future
Market conditions have changed steadily over the decades. In the 1970s, the increase in brandy tax led to significant declines in the spirits market. From the 1990s onwards, changing consumer behavior also became apparent: demand increasingly shifted towards new taste experiences and differentiated
product concepts.
Krugmann reacted early to this development and specifically opened up new market segments. The entry into the miniature spirits sector proved particularly successful. With creative product ideas, eye-catching designs, and convincing quality, the company succeeded in attracting new target groups and generating additional impulses in the market.
Since the 1990s, Patrick Fayner and Stefan Petersen have shaped the company's development. With strategic foresight and consistent brand orientation, they have continuously expanded the product range and strengthened the company's innovative power.
Another important component of the company's development is the targeted expansion of its brand portfolio through acquisitions of traditional spirits brands. For example, Krugmann took over the Leverings distillery with its well-known brand Ossenkämper in 2011. In 2021, the acquisition of the Oechelhaeuser distillery from the Siegerland region followed.
In 2025, the portfolio was supplemented by the traditional Sonnenschein distillery. These steps underscore the ambition to continue proven brands while simultaneously unlocking new growth potential.
With Noah Petersen, the next generation is already in the starting blocks to continue the successful development of the family business. Thus, Krugmann will remain an independent company in the future, preserving tradition while also setting new impulses.
